The Live Auction Collection: Buddies picks

Bill Clarke is a long-time arts writer, collector, supporter, and board and committee volunteer. Since 2005, he has regularly contributed reviews and feature articles on Toronto art and artists to national and international publications, including Border Crossings, Canadian Art, C Magazine (Canada), ArtReview (U.K.), Modern Painters and ARTnews (U.S.). He was also the editor of the online visual arts magazine Magenta for its eight-year run from 2008-2016. Bill started collecting quietly in 2002, with a focus on works on paper. As awareness of his collection grew, he was invited to speak about starting an art collection on panels at Art Toronto, the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, and other venues. From 2013-2015, he was the Toronto ambassador for the Papier (now Plural) Art Fair in Montreal. In September 2016, Modern Painters magazine included Bill on their list of the '50 Most Interesting Collectors Worldwide Under 50'. His collection has also been featured in Monocle, Canadian Art and The Globe and Mail's Report on Business magazine. 

Bill comes to ArtAttack! with previous experience chairing the art selection committee for Casey House's Art with Heart fundraiser, as well as art auction fundraisers for the Canadian Art Foundation and VIBE Arts. He has been a board member of Mercer Union, Gallery TPW and Art Metropole. Now retired from a full-time government day job, he continues to write, collect, play tennis (with more enthusiasm than finesse) and now works part-time at the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery.
