Through photography, Finn O’Hara explores our complex relationship with nature, weaving the natural world into both urban and rural landscapes. His lens reveals intrinsic beauty in varied circumstances while addressing one of today’s most pressing issues: our fraught relationship with the environment. His most-recent series, Southern Lights, supported by the Georgian Bay Land Trust, extends this inquiry to Ontario’s Georgian Bay region. In 2026, he discussed his creative process and connection to the Canadian landscape on CBC’s Q with Tom Power.

The Bird in Hand series (2024) was produced in partnership with the Ontario Bird Banding Association at their location in Long Point, a peninsular area on Lake Erie that is reknown for its concentration of migrating birds. Scientists use the uniquely numbered tags to identify and track the migration patterns of individual birds. O'Hara came away from the experience of working with the bird banders impressed by "the care and connection they make with each bird."

Born in London, England, and raised in Canada, Finn studied English Literature before settling in Toronto, where he lives with his wife and daughter. His work has been recognized by the International Photography Awards, American Photography, and The Photo Review, and is held in the permanent collections of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, the Scotiabank Fine Art Collection, and the Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro (MAM Rio).
