Bengal Tiger with Turquoise Eyes

acrylic on repurposed wood
12″ x 14″

Previous to the style of my current output, I worked for years in an abstract style, exploring visually the tropes, motifs and rhetorical devices of the modernist legacy. However, as time progressed I became disenchanted with my output and the objects I was creating, feeling them to be esoteric and idiosyncratic in a way that discouraged interaction and discourse with a broader audience. I wanted to connect with people in a more direct way, in a way that perhaps circumvented the poisonous presence of academic rhetoric that seemed all too pervasive in the current climate of the art-world.
