Ashlee Marcus is a Canadian Multi-Disciplinary Artist currently residing in Toronto, Ontario. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Special Honours Degree from York University and is a member of the Embroiderers Association of Canada.
In a world that moves so quickly and feels obsessed with instant gratification, Ashlee appropriates erotic and pop culture images and transforms them into beautiful, painstakingly crafted heirlooms, giving meaning and permanence to ideas that might otherwise get lost or forgotten in the sea of selfies and trending topics.
Recent showings include Stitch Fetish 6, (The Hive Gallery, Los Angeles) Hard Twist 12, (The Gladstone Hotel, Toronto) Stitch Fetish San Francisco,(Center for Sex and Culture) and The Dirty Show 18, (Russel Exhibition Center, Detroit). Her work has also appeared in Australia’s Textile Fibre Forum Magazine, the Contemporary Embroidery and Needlecraft website, Mr.XStitch, and most recently in the Buddies In Bad Times production of Gertrude and Alice.
