Grant Heaps is a Canadian born textile artist. He has spent his work life in theatres, backstage in wardrobe departments. Obsessed with fabric since childhood he has dedicated his life to it’s worship. Grant’s obsessions drive him. Textiles, the discarded, decay, the end of the world, personal adornment, personal environment, pop songs and how to navigate through this difficult world. His work is a process, slowly doing what is needed to make what he sees exist. Pieces tend to be large and complicated, always with a nod to the great outsiders and mostly made of unwanted or discarded fabric. Grant’s work has been shown in The Textile Museum Of Canada, The Museum Of Art And Design NYC and he is a member of The Red Head Gallery.
