Diego de la Rosa is a Venezuelan painter whose work explores the cultural impact of the socio-political realities in his native country. He relies on symbolic narratives that combine fantasy and realism to examine the ideas and sentiments shaped by these circumstances.

His process involves the collection of found imagery of people and places from Venezuela that are rearranged into painted scenes infused with imaginative elements such as anthropomorphic animals, surreal environments,  theatrical atmosphere, and otherworldly characters.

These painted scenarios illustrate both the cultural notions surrounding the crisis, as well as the critical theories that De la Rosa employs to analyze the subject at hand. His most recent work delves into themes of hybridity and belonging to explore the psychological realities of the Venezuelan exodus.

Through his work, De la Rosa creates universal stories of identity, resilience, and social struggle, evoking empathy in societies so distant from his own.
